5 Tips to Boost Your Exercise Motivation

Here a few tips to boost your exercise motivation.

Are you struggling to keep your exercise motivation up? Well, you're not alone. Motivation is a term we hear thrown around a lot in the fitness industry. But what exactly is it? And, more importantly, how can we better motivate ourselves to exercise?

Here are a few exercise motivation tips:

  1. Set goals

Having a goal is important because being able to work towards it is motivating in itself. Keep in mind, you should set goals that are easy to measure, e.g. being able to run 5 km by the end of June or being able to do 3 hangups by the end of the year.

Rule of thumb:

What is the goal and when is the goal to be accomplished?

E.g.: Being able to run 5 km by the end of June.

  1. Get rid of your guilt

Guilt weighs so heavily on your shoulders and burns the time and energy that you should be using to focus on your mind and wellbeing. If you're to succeed with an exercise plan, you need a guilt-free mind and body that is ready to focus on you and you only.

Guilt can be a powerful emotion and it can cause you to obsess about what you should have done, making you lose focus and presence. Ok, so you didn't get to exercise the day before, but it's what you're doing right now, at this moment that matters. Who do you want to be today and what are you going to do about it?

Too many people keep on dwelling on the past for no reason, as we as human beings only can control what we're doing this instant and what we will do in the future.

  1. Buy new sportswear

Perhaps you have some worn out tights or something that doesn't fit anymore? My advice? Get rid of it, sell it, toss it or donate it – but don't let it lay in your drawer taunting at you.

There is nothing more powerful than a fresh new sportswear wardrobe to get you up and going. A new pair of tights and a matching sports bra feels so good, and getting something that fits you right now is essential. Don't wait for that tights to fit in the future, you're living in the present, and the present you deserve a good pair of quality tights or sportswear.

  1. Track your progress

This advice is quite similar to number one on the list, but I'll mention it again because it's very important to set the time to track your goals. Keeping a track of your accomplishments is a motivation boost, especially when you're doing progress.

  1. Reward yourself

Reaching your target goals are rewarding in itself, but sometimes an extra reward can be a real motivation boost. Perhaps you've always dreamt of skiing in the alps or climbing a mountain in a foreign country? If you have reached a long term goal I believe you should reward yourself for that accomplishment.
